Job summary

The Reject Shop is expanding its Store Development team and seeks a Senior Fit Out Project Manager to lead national store fit-outs, relocations, and refurbishments. You will oversee planning, budgeting, contractor performance, and stakeholder alignment across a growing network.

Based in our Kensington-based Store Support Centre with a hybrid work model, you’ll mentor Project Managers and drive standardized delivery with a focus on quality and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering retail fit-outs, refurbishments, or multi-site construction projects.
  • Proven ability to lead project teams and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NCC requirements, safety standards and building disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of national retail fit-out projects from planning to completion.
  • Mentor and manage a team of Project Managers for consistent execution.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, risks and resources to deliver on time and within budget.

With our store network expanding, our customer experience evolving, and our footprint growing towards 700 stores, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes. At the centre of it all is our Store Development team, and we’re looking for a Senior Fit Out Project Manager to help shape the future of our growing store network. This role is ideal for an experienced retail construction and project delivery professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. You'll take ownership of major store development projects across new store openings, refurbishments, relocations, and conversions, while leading a team of Project Managers and partnering with stakeholders across the business. If you're a strategic leader who enjoys balancing project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence, this could be your next move. This role is based in our Kensington Store Support Centre. Hybrid work model.

What you'll be doing
  • New role created, working alongside existing Senior Fit Out Project Manager
  • Leading the end-to-end delivery of retail fit out projects across our national store network.
  • Managing store conversions, refurbishments, relocations, and new store openings from planning through to completion.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of Project Managers to ensure consistent project execution and successful outcomes.
  • Managing project budgets, timelines, risks, and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders including Property, Store Planning, Operations, Procurement, and Finance teams.
  • Managing relationships with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and service providers throughout project delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with NCC requirements, construction standards, safety regulations, and business policies.
  • Preparing and presenting project updates, performance reports, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Driving continuous improvement across project delivery processes, contractor performance, and store development outcomes.
What you'll bring
  • Proven experience delivering retail rollouts, store fit outs, refurbishments, or multi-site construction projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing project teams and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong construction knowledge across electrical, hydraulic, HVAC, architectural, and building disciplines.
  • Experience managing project budgets, timelines, contractor performance, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Sound understanding of NCC requirements, compliance obligations, and workplace safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide clear executive-level project updates.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, solutions-focused approach to project delivery.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD and interpreting technical drawings, plans, and construction documentation.
  • Experience with retail planning, planograms, or compliance audits will be highly regarded.
