Job summary

Aurecon in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to lead fire engineering projects from concept through to completion, working within our national Fire Engineering team to deliver innovative, performance-based solutions. You will develop NCC-compliant designs, undertake modelling and analysis, prepare reports and engage with multidisciplinary teams and clients to achieve outstanding project outcomes.

This senior role also offers mentorship to junior engineers and opportunities to grow

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fire engineering experience in consulting.
• Experience developing performance-based fire engineering solutions.
• Knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) and performance-based design principles.
• Experience preparing fire engineering reports and approval submissions.
• Strong communication with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Chartered status or progress toward Chartership is highly regarded.

As our Fire Engineering workload continues to grow, we're looking for a Senior Fire Engineer to join our national practice and help shape the future of fire engineering at Aurecon.

What you'll do

As a Senior Fire Engineer based in Melbourne (Adelaide also considered), you'll play a key role in delivering innovative fire engineering solutions across a diverse range of complex and nationally significant projects. Working within our collaborative national Fire Engineering team, you'll partner with industry-leading technical specialists across Australia to develop practical, performance-based solutions that help clients achieve outstanding project outcomes.

• Lead and deliver fire engineering projects from concept through to completion.
• Develop performance-based fire engineering solutions and alternative compliance pathways under the National Construction Code (NCC).
• Undertake fire engineering assessments, modelling and technical analysis to support project delivery.
• Prepare fire engineering reports, strategies and regulatory approval submissions.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to integrate fire engineering outcomes into broader design solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, approval authorities and project stakeholders.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and contributing to capability development within the team.
• Contribute to project planning, delivery, quality assurance and client satisfaction.
• Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities to grow client relationships and win new work.

What you'll bring

• 5+ years of fire engineering experience within a consulting environment.
• Strong experience developing performance-based fire engineering solutions.
• Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code and performance-based design principles.
• Experience preparing fire engineering reports and supporting approval processes.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• A collaborative approach and desire to contribute to a highly connected national team.
• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes across multiple projects.
• Chartered status, relevant registration, or active progress towards Chartership will be highly regarded.
