Job summary

Aurecon is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to join our national Fire Engineering team. Based in Melbourne (Adelaide also considered), you will lead complex fire engineering projects from concept to completion, developing performance-based solutions and NCC-compliant pathways.

You will work with industry-leading specialists across Australia to deliver practical, performance-based fire designs while mentoring junior engineers and supporting business growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fire engineering experience in a consulting environment.
• Strong experience developing performance-based fire engineering solutions.
• Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code and performance-based design principles.
• Experience preparing fire engineering reports and supporting approval processes.
• Strong communication with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

As our Fire Engineering workload continues to grow, we're looking for a Senior Fire Engineer to join our national practice and help shape the future of fire engineering at Aurecon.

What you'll do

As a Senior Fire Engineer based in Melbourne (Adelaide also considered), you'll play a key role in delivering innovative fire engineering solutions across a diverse range of complex and nationally significant projects.

Working within our collaborative national Fire Engineering team, you'll partner with industry-leading technical specialists across Australia to develop practical, performance-based solutions that help clients achieve outstanding project outcomes. You will:

• Lead and deliver fire engineering projects from concept through to completion.
• Develop performance-based fire engineering solutions and alternative compliance pathways under the National Construction Code (NCC).
• Undertake fire engineering assessments, modelling and technical analysis to support project delivery.
• Prepare fire engineering reports, strategies and regulatory approval submissions.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to integrate fire engineering outcomes into broader design solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, approval authorities and project stakeholders.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and contributing to capability development within the team.
• Contribute to project planning, delivery, quality assurance and client satisfaction.
• Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities to grow client relationships and win new work.

What you'll bring

You’ll ideally bring:

• 5+ years of fire engineering experience within a consulting environment.
• Strong experience developing performance-based fire engineering solutions.
• Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code and performance-based design principles.
• Experience preparing fire engineering reports and supporting approval processes.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• A collaborative approach and desire to contribute to a highly connected national team.
• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes across multiple projects.
• Chartered status, relevant registration, or active progress towards Chartership will be highly regarded.
