Job summary

NECA Education & Careers – Carlton North VIC is seeking a commercially minded Senior Financial Analyst to drive financial performance, partner with operational leaders, and strengthen governance across the organisation. This role moves beyond traditional reporting to deliver meaningful insights and support strategic decisions.

You will lead month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis while partnering with leaders to drive improvements and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• CPA or CA qualification (or working towards completion).
• Experience as a Senior Financial Analyst, Management Accountant, or Senior Accountant.
• Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and modelling experience.
• Solid understanding of accounting standards, compliance, and statutory reporting.
• Proven ability to analyse complex data and provide insights.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel and financial systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Lead the month-end close process including journals, accruals, prepayments, payroll, and revenue recognition.
• Budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
• Partner with operational leaders to drive decisions.

The Role

We're seeking a commercially minded Senior Financial Analyst to play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, supporting strategic decision-making, and strengthening financial governance across the organisation. This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to move beyond traditional reporting and become a trusted business partner to operational leaders, providing meaningful insights that influence business outcomes.

• Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting
• Lead the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, prepayments, payroll, and revenue recognition.

About You

You are more than a technical finance professional. You are commercially curious, highly analytical, and enjoy building strong relationships across the business. You can confidently move between detailed financial reporting and strategic conversations, helping leaders understand the story behind the numbers and make informed decisions.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• CPA or CA qualification (or working towards completion)
• Demonstrated experience in a Senior Financial Analyst, Management Accountant, or Senior Accountant role
• Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and modelling experience
• Excellent understanding of accounting standards, compliance, and statutory reporting requirements
• Proven ability to analyse complex data and deliver meaningful business insights
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
• Advanced Excel and financial systems experience
