Our client, a respected ASX-listed financial services organisation in Sydney, is looking for a Financial Accountant to join the Financial Control team. The role covers financial accounting, statutory reporting, regulatory requirements and robust financial control in a fast-paced environment.

You will report to a senior member of the Financial Control team and support timely financial reporting across the business.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CA or CPA qualified or studying toward qualification.
• 3–5+ years' experience in accounting and financial reporting.
• Strong month-end and reconciliation experience.
• Solid technical accounting knowledge and standards.
• Experience in statutory/regulatory reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive and collaborative approach.
• Financial services experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join the Financial Control team. This is a broad role offering exposure across financial accounting, statutory reporting, regulatory requirements and financial control within a sophisticated and fast-paced environment.

The role would suit an ambitious accountant looking to build their career within financial services, with excellent opportunities to develop technically and gain exposure to senior stakeholders.

The Role

Reporting to a senior member of the Financial Control team, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting across the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing month-end accounting and reporting processes
• Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting statutory financial statement preparation
• Assisting with regulatory and prudential reporting
• Supporting tax and statutory lodgements
• Managing and coordinating external audit requirements
• Investigating variances and providing financial analysis
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal policies
• Supporting the implementation of accounting and regulatory changes
• Contributing to finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives
• Working closely with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business

About You

We are looking for a technically strong accountant who is keen to continue developing within a high-performing financial services environment.

You will ideally have:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• CA or CPA qualified, or currently studying towards qualification
• 3/5+ years' experience across accounting and financial reporting
• Strong month-end and reconciliation experience
• Sound technical accounting knowledge and understanding of accounting standards
• Exposure to statutory, regulatory or external reporting
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• A proactive and collaborative approach

Financial services experience will be highly regarded. Big 4 or mid-tier audit experience, particularly within financial services, would also be highly relevant.
