Job summary

Nexl, a fast-growing LegalTech company, is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to own the engine room of finance. You will run month-end close, maintain audit/compliance for Australian and US entities, and oversee AP/AR, payroll, banking and reconciliations with a strong emphasis on AI-enabled processes.

In this role within BizOps, you’ll support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, roll out new technology, and drive process improvements while ensuring tight controls and accurate data."

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of finance or accounting experience, ideally in B2B SaaS or other high-growth environment.
• Solid working knowledge of accounting standards, including revenue and cost recognition, and familiarity with subscription billing.
• Hands-on across month-end close, AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations and multi-entity reporting.
• Proficient in using AI tools to speed up reconciliations, reporting, analysis and documentation.
• Comfortable rolling out new technology, improving workflows and picking up new tools quickly.
• High attention to detail, with the discipline to hit close deadlines and keep clean audit trails.
• Clear communicator who can work with auditors, finance peers and non-finance leaders.
• Comfortable operating in a scaling environment where problems aren’t always clearly defined and ownership matters.

Responsibilities

• Month-end close: journals, accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue recognition and cost allocations.
• Multi-entity reporting across Australian and US entities, revenue and cost recognition per standards.
• Run AP and AR end to end, invoicing, collections, supplier payments and aged reporting.
• Support payroll processing and day-to-day treasury activities with strong controls.
• Keep the business audit-ready; liaise with external auditors and advisors.
• Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls and documentation.
• Collaborate with Head of Finance on budgeting, forecasting and reporting for leaders across the company.
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce manual work and lift data quality.
• Leverage AI to automate reconciliation and data-prep tasks with appropriate human review.
• Assist in selecting and implementing new finance systems and training wider team.
• Support BizOps workflows like vendor onboarding and spend approvals.
