Job summary

Lumify Group in Sydney is hiring a Senior Financial Accountant to own the financial accounting for the Lumify group of training businesses, including intercompany eliminations and group consolidation. You will lead month-end close, the 13-week cashflow forecast for Australia, and support audit and compliance deliverables.

This is a permanent full-time hybrid role with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote. CA or CPA qualified with 5+ years' post-qualification experience, strong AASB/IFRS

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualified and highly experienced in Australian accounting standards (AASB/IFRS).
• 5+ years post-qualification experience, with multi-entity group reporting.
• Hands-on with intercompany eliminations, consolidation, and audits.
• Advanced Excel modelling with driver-based and scenario logic; Power BI skills required.
• Experience with Business Central and Xero.
• Able to explain technical positions to non-accountants and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly and year-end group consolidation across all entities, including intercompany reconciliation and elimination journals.
• Lead the 13-week cashflow forecast for Australian entities and flag liquidity risks early.
• Manage month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations with correct application of AASB 15 and AASB 16.
• Liaise with auditors; prepare statutory financial statements and notes for group and entity accounts; lodge BAS/payroll tax returns.
• Improve consolidation and cashflow processes; build automation via Excel, Power BI, and Business Central.

Job description

The Opportunity

We are looking for a hands-on, technically strong Senior Financial Accountant to own the financial accounting for Lumify’s group of training businesses, as well as intercompany and group consolidation. Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with our Philippines-based Finance Manager, you will lead month-end close, the 13-week cashflow forecast for the Australian business, and audit and compliance deliverables. You will be the technical anchor of the team, making sure reporting is accurate, reconciled, on time, and able to withstand audit, board, and lender scrutiny. This role would suit someone who is technically rigorous with a strong reconciliation mindset, works independently to tight close deadlines, escalates issues early, and improves processes proactively rather than working around them. You'll also lead by example on quality and help lift the technical standard of the wider team. This is a permanent full-time position. Lumify is a hybrid workplace, with 4 days in the office, and 1 day working from home.

Key Responsibilities: Group Consolidation & Reporting

• Prepare the monthly and year-end group consolidation across all group entities, including reconciling intercompany balances and posting elimination journals.
• Prepare consolidated inputs for the monthly board pack and lender reporting, including underlying EBITDA normalisations and covenant compliance calculations.

Cashflow & Liquidity

• Build, maintain and own the 13-week rolling cashflow forecast for the Australian entities, driven by debtor collections, supplier terms, deferred revenue, payroll, GST/BAS and financing timing.
• Model downside scenarios and flag liquidity risks, cash troughs and covenant headroom issues early to the Financial Controller, with recommended actions.

Month-end & Balance Sheet Integrity

• Own the month-end close for Lumify’s entities, delivering and reviewing journals on time.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, applying AASB 15 (deferred revenue, prepaid training credits and breakage) and AASB 16 (leases) correctly.

Statutory, Audit & Compliance

• Act as the primary point of contact for audit fieldwork and prepare statutory financial statements and notes for group and entity accounts.
• Prepare and lodge monthly BAS and payroll tax returns for the AU entities.

Process, Systems & Controls

• Improve and standardise consolidation and cashflow methods, building automation into recurring reconciliations and reporting using Business Central, Excel and Power BI.
• Maintain and monitor key financial controls, including journal approval, segregation of duties, bank reconciliations and delegations of authority.

About You

• CA or CPA qualified
• 5+ years of post-qualification experience, including multi-entity group reporting
• Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB/IFRS)
• Demonstrated experience preparing multi-entity, multi-currency group consolidations, including intercompany eliminations and FX translation
• A track record of owning audits and consolidations end to end, not just contributing to them
• Advanced Excel modelling (driver-based, scenario logic) and working Power BI skills (Power Query, data modelling, DAX)
• Hands‑on experience with Business Central and Xero
• Able to explain technical positions clearly to non‑accountants and senior stakeholders
• Comfortable working with a distributed team across AU, NZ and the Philippines
• A background in Big 4 or mid-tier audit, followed by commercial group finance, is highly regarded
