Job summary

UnitingCare Qld's BlueCare Financial Accounting team is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant on a Full-Time Fixed Term Contract until 30/06/2027. The role supports hybrid working by agreement, with responsibility for month-end close, reporting, and financial controls across a large not-for-profit organisation.

The successful candidate will have CAANZ/CPA qualification, strong Excel, and the ability to partner with across-team stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and compliance.

Qualifications

• CAANZ/CPA qualification (or equivalent) with tertiary studies in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large and complex data sets.
• Naturally analytical and detail oriented with proactive problem-solving.
• Excellent communication to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead key month-end close activities, including journals, reconciliations, accruals and reporting inputs.
• Assist in the preparation of contractual reporting requirements such as grant acquittals.
• Support BAS, FBT, audits and other statutory reporting obligations.
• Partner with Finance Business Partners and operational leaders to provide trusted financial advice.
• Drive process improvements and strengthen financial controls for efficiency.
• Contribute to finance transformation and technology initiatives.

Due to an internal secondment, we're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our BlueCare Financial Accounting team at an exciting time of digital transformation and continuous improvement. You may already have experience in aged care or bring strong accounting capability from other large and complex organisations. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll be a trusted finance professional responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, supporting critical compliance requirements and driving process improvements that strengthen business performance. Your part in our UnitingCare team

Support and lead key month-end close activities, including journals, reconciliations, accruals and reporting inputs.

Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies. This may include Nationally Coordinated Police Check, Right to Work in Australia, Insolvency Check

CAANZ/CPA qualification (or equivalent) with tertiary studies in Accounting, Finance or a related field

Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large and complex data sets.

Naturally analytical, with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships and explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
