Precruitment is assisting a well-established Local Government organisation in Far North Queensland with an immediate opening for a Senior Finance Officer on a four-week temporary assignment. The role covers senior financial operations, reconciliations, and reporting within a supportive finance team.

The ideal candidate will have finance officer experience, strong numeracy, and proficiency in Excel and GL systems, with the ability to start immediately and manage deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Finance Officer or similar role.
• Strong finance acumen and administration skills.
• Experience with reconciliations, reporting and GL functions.
• High-level accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Local Government experience is advantageous.
• Immediate availability for a four-week assignment.

The Opportunity

An immediate opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Finance Officer to join the organisation on a four-week temporary assignment.

This hands-on role will provide senior-level support across the finance function, assisting with day-to-day financial operations, reporting, reconciliations and other priority finance activities. You will work closely with Council's finance team to maintain accurate financial information and ensure key tasks and deadlines continue to be met throughout the assignment.

With an immediate start required, this opportunity will particularly suit an experienced finance professional who can quickly understand existing systems and processes and confidently contribute from day one.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally demonstrate:

• Previous experience fulfilling the role of Finance Officer or similar position
• Strong finance acumen and financial administration skills
• Experience with reconciliations, reporting and general ledger functions
• High-level accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong Microsoft Excel and financial systems skills
• Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Local Government experience will be highly regarded
• Ability to commence immediately and commit to the four-week assignment
