Job description

Lead Finance. Shape Strategy. Build What's Next.

Ready to take your finance career beyond traditional reporting and compliance?

We're looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of our Australian finance function, partner with business leaders and play a key role in our next phase of growth.

This is an opportunity to combine strong financial governance with commercial influence and business transformation.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close for the Australian entity, delivering accurate and timely management and statutory reporting to Group Finance in Malaysia within Group reporting timelines.
  • Review and present monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow) with clear commentary on performance, variances and key business drivers, and recommend areas of improvement.
  • Act as finance business partner to the Australian leadership, operations, sales and wholesale teams, providing insight on margins, stock and floor-plan, receivables and working capital to support commercial decisions.
  • Lead the annual budget, rolling forecasts and cash flow forecasting, and monitor performance against budget with actionable recommendations.
  • Manage treasury, banking and financier relationships, including floor-plan facilities, financier reporting and covenant compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and statutory obligations, including GST/BAS, income tax and ASIC lodgements, working with external tax advisers where required.
  • Align local accounting policies with the Group policies, keep abreast of technical updates, and proactively identify and close gaps.
  • Maintain a robust system of internal control over financial reporting in accordance with the group policy, including delegation of authority, reconciliations and balance sheet reviews.
  • Act as the main contact for local auditors and coordinate with the Group auditors to ensure the statutory and the Group audit processes are completed smoothly and on time.
  • Work closely with the Malaysia-based Group Finance and Shared Services team with clear handovers, timelines and review points for processes performed remotely.
  • Drive the post-acquisition integration of Australian finance into the Group, including migration to the Group accounting system, chart of accounts mapping, and integration with operational, banking and reporting systems.
  • Own Australian finance process design and controls, approve standard operating procedures, and lead the handover of non-finance activities to the relevant operational teams.
  • Act as a member of management in all aspects, including providing direction to the Malaysia-based team supporting Australia, encouraging a collaborative environment, and communicating the group's decisions, vision and strategy to the team.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by the manager, consistent with the scope of the role.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Membership with CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, and treasury, including a minimum of 3 years in a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), Australian taxation, and statutory compliance requirements, including GST, BAS, and income tax.
  • Proven business partnering capabilities, with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful commercial insights and communicate effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience managing or collaborating with remote, offshore, or shared services finance teams across multiple locations and time zones.
  • Experience in accounting system implementation, migration, or integration. Post-acquisition integration experience will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in the automotive industry, particularly in wholesale, dealership operations, or floorplan financing, will be an advantage.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in PowerPoint and Word. Experience with business intelligence (BI) and financial reporting tools will be an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Meticulous, highly organised, and results-oriented, with strong leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proactive, hands‑on, and collaborative, with the ability to work independently as the senior finance lead in Australia, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
