Job summary

Synergy (Electricity Generation and Retail Corporation) in Perth seeks a Senior External Affairs Specialist for a 12-month max-term role based at our Central Park office. The Senior External Affairs Specialist provides strategic communications leadership to governance of corporate publications, including the Annual Report and other enterprise publications that communicate performance and commitments.

The role collaborates across Communications, Government Relations, Policy, Stakeholder

Qualifications

  • Degree level qualifications in communications, media, public relations, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic communications, media or public relations team within a large complex organisation
  • Practical understanding of government processes, expectations and competing demands.
  • Has the ability to effectively interact with Executives and senior leaders
  • Able to write corporate reporting, organisation and excellent time management skills with a proactive and collaborative approach

  • Lead the strategic development, coordination and governance of Synergy's corporate publications, including the Annual Report, Modern Slavery Statement and other enterprise publications.
  • Partner with Communications, Brand and Marketing and business stakeholders to deliver publications that accurately reflect organisational priorities, commitments and reporting obligations.
  • Provide communications support to executive leadership team, including CEO and Board
  • Develop communications strategies and plans that support enterprise priorities.
  • Identify and assess external communication opportunities that support Synergy's strategic narrative and enterprise priorities.
  • Provide strategic advice on executive speaking engagements, industry forums, conferences

Role Description

The Senior External Affairs Specialist is an exciting 12-month max term opportunity working in our Perth Central Park Office.

Synergy’s Brand, Marketing and Communications team leads the design and amplification of Synergy’s one voice to the community, stakeholders, and its people to drive engagement and strengthen reputation.

The Senior External Affairs Specialist provides strategic communications expertise to support organisational priorities, executive communications and enterprise-wide initiatives. The role leads the development and governance of Synergy's corporate publications, including the Annual Report and other enterprise publications that communicate Synergy's performance, impact, commitments and reputation narrative.

The role identifies and assesses external communication opportunities that support Synergy's strategic objectives, including executive speaking engagements, industry forums, awards, partnerships and thought leadership activities. Working collaboratively across Communications, Government Relations, Policy, Stakeholder Engagement and wider business teams, the role helps ensure communication approaches are informed, aligned and support enterprise outcomes.
