Job summary

Synergy is seeking a Senior Business Analyst for a 12-month fixed term in the Technical and Business Services unit, based at the Central Park Office in Perth. You will map business processes, gather requirements, and work with delivery teams to define user stories, functional specs and detailed documentation.

A key focus is documenting and delivering test solutions to reduce risk and business impact of implemented changes. You will engage stakeholders and guide governance-ready outputs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis or software testing.
  • Knowledge of project governance, quality assurance practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with large datasets and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business analysis activities by eliciting, prioritising and managing requirements for complex initiatives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and workshops to gather, validate and refine requirements, user stories and processes.
  • Translate business needs into practical solutions by collaborating with delivery teams to assess options and outcomes.
  • Define scope, acceptance criteria and testing approaches, ensuring solutions meet requirements and supporting defect resolution.
  • Assess business impacts and risks, produce governance-ready documentation, and support change adoption.

Role Description:

The Senior Business Analyst role is a 12 month fixed term opportunity in our Technical and Business Services unit based at our Central Park Office in Perth.

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for understanding and mapping the business processes by working collaboratively with stakeholders to gather business requirements, understand business context and discover opportunities for continuous improvement. They will work closely with the relevant team, and or project team to extract and define user stories, functional specifications and prepare detailed documentation.

A key focus will be documenting and delivering test solutions to reduce business impact and potential risks of solutions implemented.

Job responsibilities:
  • Lead business analysis activities by eliciting, prioritising and managing requirements for complex initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic, regulatory and delivery objectives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and workshops to gather, validate and refine requirements, user stories, processes and solution designs.
  • Translate business needs into practical solutions by collaborating with delivery teams to assess options, feasibility, impacts and business case outcomes.
  • Define scope, acceptance criteria and testing approaches, providing assurance that solutions meet requirements and supporting defect resolution.
  • Assess business impacts, manage risks and dependencies, produce governance-ready documentation, and support change adoption through communication, training and knowledge sharing.
What you will bring:
  • Tertiary qualification in a related field (e.g. finance, economics, mathematics or data science)
  • 5+ years' experience in business analysis or software testing.
  • Experience working with large datasets and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, SQL)
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Understanding of project governance, quality assurance practices and regulatory and reporting requirements.
