The Executive Officer 3 will lead programs, manage data and coordinate collaborations with universities and Geoscience Australia, while travelling within Australia as required.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic and highly regarded team that delivers programs designed to attract and grow resources exploration activity in the Territory and provides advice and promotion relating to the Territory’s geological potential and opportunities.

The Northern Territory Geological Survey is the Territory’s premier geoscience agency. It is the custodian of large volumes of knowledge and data on the Territory’s geology and resources and undertakes pre-competitive field-based geoscience and exploration stimulus programs to unlock the Territory’s exciting resource potential.

We are seeking a highly credentialled geoscientist with strong knowledge of the resources exploration sector, including how industry access and use pre-competitive geoscience. The successful candidate will apply their geological knowledge to strategically lead a diverse team in delivering high-quality geoscience programs and exploration grants and in the effective management and delivery of large volumes of data and information to industry.

The position is the leading advocate and source of advice to Government, industry and the community on the Territory’s geology and resource potential and will lead promotional engagement with domestic and international explorers and investors on the Territory’s upstream resources opportunities.

The successful candidate will also lead engagement with partner organisations including Geoscience Australia and universities on collaborative programs to increase the knowledge-base of the Northern Territory’s complex geology and minerals and petroleum resources.

The position is based in the Darwin office located in the heart of the city and while predominantly office-based it also requires intra-Territory, interstate and overseas travel.
