Job summary

ACCIONA delivers infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand, including civil construction, transport, rail, road, water and tunnelling projects. Our Studies and Bids team develops estimates that win work, coordinating with project teams, subcontractors and clients from tender through to award.

You will report to the Estimating Manager and own the estimates and proposals for your assigned bids, coordinating input across the business and acting as lead client contact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering or similar field.
• Minimum 10 years estimating experience on tunnelling/metro/rail/highways/utilities projects.
• Knowledge of planning and construction methodologies.
• Solid understanding of ground conditioning and TBM ground systems.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Access.

Responsibilities

• Develop cost estimates and coordinate proposals for assigned estimating projects.
• Provide area forecasts and report project status.
• Manage multiple bids and liaise between estimating team and clients.
• Revise estimates and implement required changes.
• Maintain client relations as lead contact for proposals.

Our Studies and Bids team builds the estimates that win this work, and works closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients from tender through to award.

About the Opportunity

You will report to the Estimating Manager and own the estimates and proposals for your assigned bids. Evaluate tender documents, learn the client's requirements and gather subcontractor pricing. Coordinate input across the business and act as lead client contact. When a tender is won, hand it over to project management.

You will also set the standards and systems the estimating group follows, help recruit estimators and review their performance. Work with the quality management group to set and monitor quality standards.

Key accountabilities

• Develop cost estimates and coordinate proposals for assigned estimating projects
• Provide area specific forecasts and report projects status
• Manage multiple bids and perform as liaison between estimating team
• Revise estimates and implement required changes
• Maintain client relations by being lead contact of proposal for client
• Monitor and ensure bid format meet clients standards
• Coordinate with subcontractors to receive input on pricing on labour, materials and other costs
• Review, provide feedback and evaluate performance of Estimators and Senior Estimators
• Manage multiple bids and act as lead client contact
• Set estimating standards and quality controls with the quality group

Qualification and Competencies

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or a similar
• Minimum 10 years estimating experience estimating on projects constructed using different Tunnelling methods & various use, Metro, Rail, Highways, Utility etc
• Knowledge of planning and construction methodologies
• Solid understanding of ground conditioning and TBM ground conditioning systems
• Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
