Job summary

McConnell Dowell is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team across Australia. You'll work with operations and engineering to develop competitive tenders for diverse infrastructure projects, shaping strategy from the earliest stages.

While pipeline construction experience will be highly regarded, we're equally interested in experienced construction estimators from related infrastructure sectors who are ready to bring their expertise to a business known for delivering complex, technically challenging projects.

This role can be based from any McConnell Dowell office in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth.

The Opportunity

Working closely with operational and engineering teams, you'll play a critical role in developing competitive, well-considered tenders across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. You'll contribute to project strategy from the earliest stages, helping shape winning solutions that balance commercial outcomes, delivery certainty and client expectations.

The role includes preparing cost estimates and tender submissions, analysing technical and commercial documentation, engaging subcontractors and suppliers, conducting risk assessments, and supporting contract negotiations and project handovers.

What We're Looking For

• Significant estimating experience within the construction or infrastructure sector.
• Pipeline construction estimating experience highly regarded.
• Strong commercial acumen and analytical costing capability.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and develop practical delivery methodologies.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, construction management or a related discipline is preferred.
