Job summary

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service is seeking an epidemiologist to lead surveillance and research on vaccine-preventable, blood-borne, gastrointestinal and other communicable diseases in CQ region.

You will provide expert epidemiological guidance to CQHHS and partners, interpret data, and support safety, quality and risk improvements through analysis of outcomes and audits.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for registration or credentialed to practice in epidemiology or public health.
  • Ability to apply epidemiological principles to complex clinical and public health situations.
  • Experience advising health authorities and partner organisations is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead communicable disease surveillance and research across multiple disease areas.
  • Provide expert epidemiological advice to CQHHS, Queensland Health and partners.
  • Turn complex health data into practical insights for clinicians and policymakers.
  • Support patient safety, quality and risk improvement by analysing data and incidents.

About us:The Quality and Safety Division helps CQHHS deliver safer, more effective and person-centred care by providing clinical teams with the frameworks, expertise and practical support to identify risks, understand performance and continuously improve.The Risk and Informatics Team is the data and risk powerhouse behind this work. They turn complex healthcare data into clear, useful insights, tracking trends, emerging risks and quality indicators so leaders and frontline staff can make informed decisions.
