Job summary

Core-EP in Melbourne is seeking a Team Lead & Senior Environmental Engineer to lead our Engineering, Design and Compliance team. You will design and review complex environmental systems and mentor a team to deliver high quality outcomes.

The role blends hands-on technical delivery with people leadership, including resource planning, budgeting and client engagement. A degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, 7+ years of experience, and Chartered status (or working towards) are preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with landfill gas systems, leachate management or remediation.
• Strong design capability with hydraulic calculations, gas modelling and optimisation.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Commercial awareness including budgeting, forecasting and utilisation tracking.
• Understanding of Australian Standards and environmental legislation.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards Chartership.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Design, review and approve complex environmental projects including landfill gas, leachate treatment and remediation infrastructure.
• Provide technical direction on system design, modelling, commissioning and optimisation.
• Act as senior reviewer for reports, calculations, drawings and specifications.
• Lead projects and workstreams, coordinating fieldwork and subcontractors.
• Line manage engineers, set development plans and conduct performance conversations.
• Allocate resources and monitor budgets and utilisation across projects.
• Mentor engineers in design, risk assessment and client engagement.
• Support business development through proposals, fee estimates and client engagement.
