Job summary

UGL is recruiting a Senior Environmental Advisor to support a major solar farm and BESS project near Mount Isa on a FIFO roster. You will provide hands-on environmental management across construction activities, ensuring compliance with approvals and legislation while working closely with project teams.

This permanent role offers exposure to utility-scale renewables, strong HSE leadership, and clear pathways for career development within UGL's growing energy portfolio.

Qualifications

• Experience as an onsite Environmental Advisor within construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, resources or other major project environments.
• A qualification in Environmental Science or a related discipline, with sound knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience conducting site inspections and supporting environmental reporting activities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across project teams and subcontractors.
• A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work a FIFO roster of 10 days on, 4 days off.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day environmental support across construction activities, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain environmental management plans, procedures and associated documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and environmental monitoring to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Assist with environmental incidents, investigations, corrective actions and compliance reporting.
• Work closely with project teams, supervisors and subcontractors to promote environmental awareness and drive continuous improvement.

Join UGL on a major solar farm and battery energy storage (BESS) project near Mount Isa. Working alongside an existing operational solar farm, you'll support the delivery of a large-scale renewable energy project that combines new construction with the challenges and opportunities of a live operating environment.

As part of UGL's growing portfolio of renewable energy projects, you'll have the opportunity to build your experience on a high-profile project while contributing to Australia's energy transition.

About the role

Reporting to the site HSE Manager, you'll provide environmental support across construction activities, helping the project meet its environmental obligations while promoting responsible work practices on site. This is a hands-on role that combines field-based environmental management with compliance, reporting and stakeholder engagement.

You will work closely with project managers, supervisors and subcontractors to drive positive environmental outcomes while maintaining compliance with project approvals, environmental management plans and relevant legislation.
