Job summary

Pivot Management is seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor for a site-based role in Mackay region, Queensland. You will own EA conditions, drive compliant operations and embed environmental plans into daily practice, with a focus on data integrity and timely reporting.

You will collaborate with operations, technical services and leadership, supporting ramp-up phases and ongoing growth while ensuring regulatory obligations are met and environmental performance aligns with site objectives.

Job description

This organisation drives a strong company culture, places safety and environment as key to their operation, and is in the middle of an exciting ramp up phase. As the operation embarks on its next chapter this unique operation has engaged us to find a Senior Environmental Advisor to join the site based team.

About the Role

This is a site-based technical role central to the environmental compliance and performance of the operation. You will take ownership of Environmental Authority (EA) conditions, ensuring the site operates within its approvals and that compliance obligations are understood and met across the business. You will lead the implementation of environmental management plans, embedding them into day-to-day site practice rather than treating them as static documents, and you will manage water reporting and monitoring requirements, ensuring data integrity and timely regulatory submissions. You'll work closely with operations, technical services, and the leadership team to keep environmental performance aligned with the site's growth trajectory, and you'll play a key role supporting the business through its ramp-up phase and beyond.

About You

You bring solid site-based experience in environmental management within coal mining or a comparable heavy industry, with genuine depth in EA compliance, management plan implementation, and water monitoring and reporting. You're comfortable being the technical authority on environmental matters while working collaboratively with operational teams to get compliance embedded in practice, not just on paper. Key Requirements

Site-based experience in environmental advisory roles within coal mining or similar resources operations

Strong working knowledge of EA conditions and regulatory compliance obligations

Experience implementing and maintaining environmental management plans

Demonstrated experience in water reporting and monitoring

Ability to liaise confidently with regulators, operations teams, and site leadership

Strong attention to detail and sound judgement under regulatory scrutiny
