Newcastle Eye Hospital Pty Limited is seeking a Senior Enrolled Nurse to join our dedicated theatre team in Newcastle. The role focuses on scrub/scout nursing, patient safety and high standards of care within ophthalmic procedures.

The successful candidate will have AHPRA EN registration, extensive nursing and theatre experience, and thrive in a busy hospital environment with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse (EN).
• A minimum of 8 years of nursing experience.
• At least 3 years of operating theatre experience.
• Previous scrub and/or scout nursing experience.
• Confidence working in a busy hospital operating theatre.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

As a Senior Enrolled Nurse, you will play an important role in supporting surgical procedures and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care. You will work alongside a highly experienced team of ophthalmic surgeons and theatre staff in a professional, supportive environment focused on delivering exceptional patient care.

Key responsibilities

Providing competent scrub and/or scout nursing support during surgical procedures.

Preparing operating theatres, surgical instruments and equipment.

Maintaining strict infection prevention and control standards.

Supporting surgeons and the theatre team throughout surgical procedures.

Ensuring patient safety, comfort and dignity at all times.

Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and following hospital policies and procedures.

Contributing to efficient theatre operations and positive patient outcomes.

Working collaboratively with the wider clinical team to maintain a professional and supportive environment.

About you
