Job summary

Newcastle Eye Hospital Pty Limited is seeking a Senior Enrolled Nurse to join our dedicated theatre team in Newcastle. The role focuses on scrub/scout nursing, patient safety and high standards of care within ophthalmic procedures.

The successful candidate will have AHPRA EN registration, extensive nursing and theatre experience, and thrive in a busy hospital environment with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse (EN).
• A minimum of 8 years of nursing experience.
• At least 3 years of operating theatre experience.
• Previous scrub and/or scout nursing experience.
• Confidence working in a busy hospital operating theatre.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide scrub and/or scout nursing support during surgical procedures.
• Prepare operating theatres, instruments and equipment.
• Maintain infection prevention and control standards.
• Support surgeons and the theatre team during procedures.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort and dignity at all times.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow hospital policies.
• Contribute to efficient theatre operations and positive patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with the wider clinical team to maintain a professional environment.
