Job summary

CommBank is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Payments Technology in Melbourne or Sydney. You will lead engineering across payment reporting, data feeds and customer reporting platforms, building high-performing teams across Australia and India.

You will drive cloud-native modernization, AI-assisted delivery and real-time data capabilities, shaping technical strategy and partnering with cross-functional groups to deliver critical payment services at scale.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading engineering teams across multiple squads and locations.
• Strong background in cloud-native engineering and modern software architecture.
• Experience building large-scale reporting, data, integration or transaction platforms.
• Experience driving platform modernisation and engineering transformation.
• Understanding of AWS, microservices, event-driven architectures and DevSecOps.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering strategy and delivery across payment reporting, data feeds and customer reporting platforms.
• Build and develop high-performing engineering teams across multiple squads and locations.
• Drive modernisation from legacy and vendor platforms to cloud-native architectures.
• Champion engineering excellence across architecture, security, reliability and resilience.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Risk, Cyber Security and Payments teams to deliver outcomes.
• Influence technical direction across distributed systems and real-time processing platforms.
• Embed AI-assisted engineering practices to improve delivery quality and speed.
• Create a culture of ownership, innovation, inclusion and continuous improvement.
