Job summary

SMEC is seeking a Senior Engineer for its Urban Infrastructure team on the Sunshine Coast. You will focus on construction phase services including site supervision, project management, contract administration, quality control, and coordination across client portfolios.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, 5+ years of experience in urban/roads projects, and solid knowledge of Australian codes. Strong communication and a valid Australian driver’s license are essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of industry experience.
• Experience in urban development, roads or municipal projects.
• Strong knowledge of Australian codes and standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; valid Australian driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high technical expertise in engineering and construction methods, materials and equipment.
• Pre-empt and resolve on-site construction problems.
• Manage client and stakeholder relationships and understand their drivers.
• Mentor junior staff and promote a growth mindset.
• Oversee project progress and approve contractor payments and variations as appropriate.
