Job summary

AEMO is seeking a Senior Engineer - Commissioning to join the Onboarding & Connections team. You will lead the commissioning of renewable generation and storage projects, collaborating with developers, network service providers, and government agencies to deliver safe, reliable outcomes in Australia’s National Electricity Market.

Reporting to the Manager - Commissioning, this role offers flexible working arrangements across Australia, with opportunities to mentor engineers and influence industry

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related power systems field.
• Experience commissioning renewable energy or large energy infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of generator commissioning, performance testing, power system behaviour and NEM requirements.
• Familiarity with PSSE and PSCAD.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commissioning of renewable generation and energy infrastructure projects through to successful operation.
• Provide expert advice across commissioning, registration, power system performance and system strength.
• Partner with developers, network service providers and industry stakeholders to resolve complex technical challenges and deliver successful project outcomes.
• Help drive technical decision‑making, ensuring outcomes are evidence‑based, practical, transparent and aligned with NEM requirements.
• Contribute to industry and regulatory initiatives that support the integration of renewable generation and storage technologies.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers and project stakeholders, supporting capability development across the team.
• Build trusted relationships across industry and contribute to AEMO's reputation as a valued technical partner.
