Job summary

Water Corporation in Western Australia is seeking a Senior Engineer IWSS Operations to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the Metropolitan IWSS conveyance network. You will provide specialist engineering advice, mentor teams and partner with stakeholders to deliver infrastructure enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification in engineering or related civil/mechanical discipline.
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist engineering advice and technical leadership to support safe, reliable operation, maintenance and improvement of the IWSS conveyance network.
  • Lead Asset Protection Risk Assessments, reviewing projects that may impact IWSS infrastructure, ensuring safety in design principles and risk mitigations.
  • Support major and minor capital works with technical input into asset acquisition, commissioning, shutdown planning, network isolations and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Manage and monitor contractors, consultants and project partners to ensure safety, asset protection and whole-of-life outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to asset management plans, renewal strategies and operational performance improvements.
  • Mentor and develop operational and maintenance teams, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient, compliant service delivery.

About the role

As the Senior Engineer IWSS Operations, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of the Metropolitan Integrated Water Supply Scheme (IWSS) conveyance network. This full-time position is part of a team that provides specialist engineering advice, mentors design, maintenance and operational teams, and partners with stakeholders to deliver infrastructure enhancements that improve network reliability, flexibility and long-term performance.

In addition, you will be responsible for the management of the Asset Protection process on behalf of Treatment & Resource Recovery Business Unit. You will review external parties works that may impact Water Corporation assets such as Major Conveyance and Treatment facilities.

What you can expect with this role
  • Provide specialist engineering advice and technical leadership to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation, maintenance and improvement of the Metropolitan IWSS conveyance network.
  • Lead Asset Protection Risk Assessments, reviewing internal and external projects that may impact existing or future IWSS infrastructure, ensuring safety in design principles are applied and appropriate risk mitigations are implemented throughout planning, construction and commissioning activities.
  • Support the delivery of major and minor capital works by providing technical input into asset acquisition, commissioning, shutdown planning, network isolations and infrastructure enhancement projects.
  • Manage and monitor contractors, consultants and project partners to ensure compliance with safety, operational and asset protection requirements, while achieving whole-of-life asset outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, provide solutions to complex engineering challenges, and contribute to asset management plans, renewal strategies and operational performance improvements.
  • Mentor and develop operational and maintenance teams, building technical capability while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external agencies to ensure efficient, compliant and customer-focused service delivery.
Your skills and experience

For this role, we are looking for great talent with:

  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex engineering issues, identify risks and develop practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with the ability to provide specialist technical advice across the planning, operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure assets.
  • Degree level qualification in engineering or related civil/mechanical discipline
  • Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
