Job summary

SMEC is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the rail team in Sydney. The role focuses on design and delivery of lighting, low and high voltage systems, earthing, and bonding for major rail projects, with responsibilities spanning drawings, reports, and tender packages from preliminary through to construction.

Candidates should have 6+ years of industry experience, relevant Electrical Engineering qualifications, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit and other engineering tools, along with

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 6+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with railway or transport infrastructure electrical design.
• Familiar with Australian codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and delivery of lighting, LV, HV, earthing and bonding engineering services for various rail projects
• Production of engineering drawings, reports, specifications and tender packages from preliminary through to construction
• Conducting feasibility studies, load calculations and site inspections
• Reviewing electrical designs, ensuring that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC
• Production of engineering reports and supporting tender proposals
• Proactively collaborating with team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables

The Role SMEC are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our rail team in Sydney.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and delivery of lighting, low voltage, high voltage, earthing and bonding engineering services for various rail projects
• Production of engineering drawings, reports, specifications and tender packages from preliminary through to construction
• Conducting feasibility studies, load calculations and site inspections
• Reviewing electrical designs, ensuring that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC
• Production of engineering reports and supporting tender proposals
• Proactively collaborating with team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables

About You

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 6+ years’ industry experience
• Experience preparing detailed electrical design documentation across rail and other transport infrastructure projects
• AutoCAD, Revit, PowerCAD, AGI 32, DIALux, CDEGS software experience
• Must have strong understanding of relevant Australian codes and standards, as well as Safety Assurance and System Engineering processes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary engineering organisation
• Accountability for project delivery and budget
• CPEng registration or actively progress towards registration
