Job summary

SMEC in Sydney is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our rail team. You will design and deliver lighting, LV/HV, earthing and bonding components for rail projects.

Successful candidate will produce drawings, reports and tender packages, conduct feasibility studies, load calculations and site inspections, and ensure designs meet Australian codes and SMEC standards. This role requires strong communication and multi-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 6+ years’ industry experience.
• Experience preparing detailed electrical design documentation across rail and other transport infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of Australian codes and standards, Safety Assurance and System Engineering processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and delivery of lighting, low voltage, high voltage, earthing and bonding engineering services for various rail projects
• Production of engineering drawings, reports, specifications and tender packages from preliminary through to construction
• Conducting feasibility studies, load calculations and site inspections
• Reviewing electrical designs, ensuring that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC
• Production of engineering reports and supporting tender proposals
• Proactively collaborating with team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables

The Role

About You

• Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary engineering organisation

• Accountability for project delivery and budget

• CPEng registration or actively progress towards registration
