Job summary

John Holland Group is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Counsel to join the People team for a 12-month parental leave cover based in Pyrmont, NSW. You will provide trusted employment law advice, support across the organisation and act as a senior escalation point for complex workplace matters.

Reporting to the Head of Employee Relations - Legal & Advisory, you will help leaders navigate issues while balancing legal risk, commercial considerations and employee experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws and Australian practising certificate.
• Significant experience in employment law across sectors.
• Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, awards and enterprise agreements.
• Experience managing workplace investigations and disputes.
• Ability to advise senior leaders with commercially pragmatic guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide legally privileged employment law advice across Australia and NZ operations.
• Advise on conduct, grievances, disciplinary matters and separations.
• Manage employment litigation, external claims and disputes.
• Conduct or oversee complex workplace investigations.
• Draft, review and negotiate settlement deeds and related docs.
• Support organisational change initiatives and restructures.
• Draft employment contracts and policies.
• Translate legislative changes into practical guidance.
• Partner with leaders to identify and manage risk.
• Deliver training and capability development on employment law.
