On Q Recruitment is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer in Melbourne, Australia, to design, develop and verify embedded software for sophisticated medical devices. You will work across RTOS, embedded Linux, and hardware integration, contributing to regulatory documentation and cross-functional product development.

The role requires strong C/C++ skills, ARM microcontroller experience, and familiarity with medical device regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Degree qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Strong commercial experience in embedded software development.
• Advanced C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers.
• Strong RTOS experience, ideally FreeRTOS and/or Zephyr.
• Experience developing software for embedded Linux environments.
• Proven hardware-software integration and debugging capabilities.
• Understanding of communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB and Ethernet.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience working within regulated environments such as medical devices or similar highly regulated industries.
