Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking a Software Engineer for a one-year fixed-term role in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Camperdown, Sydney. You will develop firmware and drivers for WiFi and IoT devices, working with STM32 and ESP32 platforms, and collaborate with industry partners to advance research outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Embedded software and firmware development experience.
• Experience developing WiFi, networked or IoT-enabled systems.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Experience developing applications in RTOS and embedded Linux environments.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement embedded firmware and driver solutions for WiFi and IoT devices, including STM32 and ESP32 platforms.
• Design, develop and optimise software applications using C/C++ and Python.
• Develop real-time applications in RTOS and embedded Linux environments.
• Test, debug, validate and integrate software with hardware and IoT systems.
• Collaborate with researchers, staff and industry partners to meet milestones.
• Provide technical advice and contribute to innovative wireless and IoT solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation and software artefacts to support delivery.
• Ensure software quality, reliability and timely project execution.
