Build Your Career with Us

Shape the Future of Motorsport

MoTeC, A Bosch company, is a leading designer and manufacturer of specialist automotive electronics products and solutions for the global motorsport industry. We are looking for a highly skilled and passionate Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our product development team. The position will provide you an opportunity to work with a collaborative team on interesting and technically challenging electronic products.

We are looking for a Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our product development team and take ownership of hardware design across our product range — from early concept and architecture through to volume production and field support.

This is a hands‑on engineering position, you will be designing circuits, reviewing layouts, diagnosing faults as they arise, and making the calls on component selection and design trade‑offs. You will also be one of the senior technical voices in the team, mentoring less experienced engineers and leading investigations when something challenging arises.

Seniority here means genuine ownership. You will carry designs through to completion rather than handing them on at the difficult part, and you will be a person the business can rely on for a straight answer on hardware status, risk, and options.

Our products live in genuinely hostile environments: heat, vibration, electrical noise, and a customer base that cannot afford a failure on race weekend. If you want your design decisions to matter, they will here.

This is primarily an ‘on‑site’ role located at MoTeC’s R&D Headquarters in Clayton, Melbourne with a degree of flexible working arrangements and company benefits?

We are a passionate team and are looking for someone with passion and drive when it comes to Electronic Hardware Product development.

Principal Accountabilities:

Owning electronics hardware design for new products and product revisions, from requirements through to production release.

Designing analogue, digital, mixed‑signal and power circuitry for harsh automotive and motorsport environments

Doing your own schematic capture and PCBA layout in Altium, through to a manufacturable, EMC‑compliant printed circuit board

Review of PCB design before releasing to supplier

Selecting and qualifying components with a clear view of performance, reliability, cost, availability, and obsolescence risk.

Planning and running hardware verification and validation, including environmental and EMC testing.

Supporting the transition from design into production and resolving manufacturing and field issues as they arise.

Working alongside firmware, software, mechanical, purchasing and test engineers to deliver complete systems

Leading design reviews, technical investigations, and root cause analysis.

Mentoring junior and mid‑level engineers and helping lift the technical standard of the team

Acting as a senior technical point of contact for the wider business, including deputising for the Electronic Hardware team leader during periods of absence

Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Electronic, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

8+ years in electronics hardware design, including multiple products you have personally taken from concept through to volume production

A demonstrated ability to plan and deliver to committed deadlines, with the judgement to determine how much engineering effort a given problem requires.

Analogue, digital, mixed‑signal and power electronics design

Hands‑on PCB layout, including multilayer, high‑density and mixed‑signal boards, plus schematic capture, and design for manufacture — we use Altium, and experience with it is highly advantageous

Modern microcontroller, FPGA, and embedded hardware platforms

EMC/EMI design practice, product compliance, and designing for harsh environmental conditions

Hardware verification and validation, fault finding, and production support

Component selection and qualification, balancing performance, reliability, cost, availability, and lifecycle risk

Structured product development — requirements management, design reviews, risk assessment, and change control — applied proportionately rather than as process for its own sake

Working day to day with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, procurement, and test engineers

Mentoring junior and mid‑level engineers, and leading technical investigations through to resolution

Communicating technical detail clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences, and the confidence to represent hardware engineering directly to senior management

Highly regarded

Firmware or embedded software ability — our hardware engineers routinely write test firmware and scripts to support bring‑up and validation, in C, C++, Python and our own M1 Build environment (we will train you on the latter)

High‑speed digital layout, signal integrity analysis, or rigid‑flex and other constrained mechanical packaging

Automotive, motorsport, industrial control, aerospace, defence, or other high‑reliability electronics experience

Experience owning a hardware roadmap or running multiple concurrent development programs

If you do not tick every box but you have a strong track record delivering technically challenging hardware that must survive in the field, we' would still like to hear from you.
