Job summary

Bluefin Company Limited is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Australian engineering team in Sydney. The role focuses on operational engineering and O&M support for utility-scale solar and BESS assets across Australia.

You will work with Engineering, O&M, Project Delivery and Commercial teams to troubleshoot, perform root-cause analysis, and support grid compliance and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' direct utility-scale solar plant operations and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with electrical fault finding, root cause analysis and operational engineering support.
• Knowledge of utility-scale solar PV infrastructure (inverters, transformers, switchgear).
• Familiarity with high voltage systems and HV switching procedures.
• Experience with SCADA and electrical monitoring systems.
• Understanding of AEMO and NSP operational requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist electrical engineering support across operational utility-scale solar and BESS assets.
• Support plant managers, site technicians and control room operators in resolving operational issues.
• Investigate electrical faults, equipment failures and plant performance issues.
• Respond to operational incidents and provide technical recommendations to restore plant reliability.
• Work closely with O&M teams to improve asset availability, safety and operational efficiency.
• Lead root cause investigations into electrical equipment failures and incidents.
• Troubleshoot solar equipment including inverters, transformers and switchgear.
• Interpret technical reports and operational data.
• Coordinate technical specialists, equipment suppliers and external consultants where required.
• Manage equipment warranty claims and support minor O&M improvement projects.
• Provide HV switching documentation and consider remote switching for operations.
• Investigate and resolve operational compliance matters involving GPS and AEMO/NSP.
• Analyse SCADA and performance data to identify issues and improvements.
• Collaborate with internal specialists to develop best operating practices.
• Provide electrical input into new solar and BESS development and commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers as required.
