Job summary

Syscon is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead HV primary, secondary and protection design for substations and customer connections. The role offers technical leadership, mentoring of detail designers and engagement with network authorities on diverse projects across NSW.

The position supports testing, commissioning and energisation activities and offers hybrid working arrangements with an attractive salary aligned to experience, plus development support for Chartered Engineer

Qualifications

• CPEng or pursuing Chartered status is required.
• Proven HV primary, secondary and protection design experience.
• Knowledge of substations, customer connections and protection systems.
• Current driver's license.

Job description

Syscon delivers high voltage substation and customer connection projects across NSW for utility, industrial, renewable energy and infrastructure clients.

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the primary, secondary and protection design of complex HV projects. From new substations and major upgrades to customer connections, you'll provide technical leadership, mentor detail designers and play a key role in delivering critical power infrastructure.

This role can be based in Wyong, Newcastle, Wagga Wagga or Western Sydney.

About the role

• Lead the primary, secondary and protection design of HV substations and customer connections
• Develop design concepts for transformers, switchgear, busbar arrangements and earthing systems
• Prepare and review protection studies, relay settings and fault level assessments
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to detail designers
• Manage technical submissions and stakeholder engagement with network authorities
• Support testing, commissioning and energisation activities alongside our dedicated T&C team
• Work across utility, infrastructure, industrial and renewable energy projects

About you

• CPEng or working towards Chartered status
• Proven experience delivering HV primary, secondary and protection designs
• Strong knowledge of substations, customer connections and protection systems
• Experience with protection relay platforms such as SEL, ABB, Siemens or GE
• Sound understanding of AS 2067, AS/NZS 61850 and protection coordination principles
• Strong communication skills and the ability to lead technical outcomes
• Current driver's licence
