Job summary

Fyfe is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and documentation of power and electrification infrastructure projects. You’ll work with a high degree of independence, applying your technical expertise across substations, grid connections and broader electrification infrastructure.

This role offers the opportunity to influence project quality, client outcomes, engineering standards and the development of engineers and graduates, while staying hands-on with complex technical work

Qualifications

• Eight to ten years of electrical engineering experience across power and electrification infrastructure.
• Proven experience in HV/MV electrical design, substations, grid infrastructure and power systems.
• Strong working knowledge of AS 2067, AS 3000 and relevant utility standards.
• Experience preparing and reviewing detailed electrical design documentation.
• Experience undertaking power system studies and protection engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Deliver HV/MV electrical design and documentation across power and electrification projects.
• Design and contribute to HV/MV substations (11 kV–330 kV) and grid connection infrastructure.
• Prepare feasibility studies, business cases, technical reports, design documentation, protection and control philosophies, protection studies and relay settings.
• Prepare and review single-line diagrams, substation layouts, cable schedules, equipment specifications, and protection and automation documentation.
• Perform power system modelling, protection coordination studies and network analysis using industry-standard software.
• Support multidisciplinary project teams and collaborate with clients, contractors and Network Service Providers.
• Lead design reviews, technical workshops and stakeholder meetings.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers and graduates.
• Support proposal development, client engagement and business growth initiatives.

The Opportunity

• Design and contribute to HV/MV substations (11 kV–330 kV), grid connection infrastructure, renewable energy developments and industrial electrification projects.
• Prepare feasibility studies, business cases, technical reports, design documentation, protection and control philosophies, protection studies and relay settings.
• Prepare and review single-line diagrams, substation layouts, cable schedules, equipment specifications, and protection and automation documentation.
• Perform power system modelling, protection coordination studies and network analysis using industry-standard software.

What You'll Bring

You'll be an experienced electrical engineer with strong power infrastructure credentials and the technical judgement to lead complex workstreams independently.

• A Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Eight to ten years of electrical engineering experience across power and electrification infrastructure.
• Proven experience in HV/MV electrical design, substations, grid infrastructure and power systems.
• Strong working knowledge of AS 2067, AS 3000 and relevant utility standards.
• Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing detailed electrical design documentation.
• Experience undertaking power system studies and protection engineering work.
• Experience using power system software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools or PowerFactory.
• The ability to contribute across all phases of project delivery, from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to complex engineering challenges.
• Confidence leading technical workstreams and taking ownership of project outcomes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
