Job summary

Fyfe is seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer to join our Infrastructure Team in Melbourne. You will contribute from concept through detailed design, procurement support, construction assistance and commissioning.

You will deliver electrical and control system drawings, LV/MV design, and instrument packages for water, wastewater, mining, and industrial facilities, coordinating with process, mechanical and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in MV/LV electrical design.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards.
• Experience in I&C design.
• Able to contribute across all project phases.
• Experience on complex infrastructure projects is valued.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and check electrical and control system deliverables (SLDs, drawings, cable schedules, panel layouts, BOMs).
• Support LV design activities including cable sizing and load inputs.
• Coordinate controls requirements with process, mechanical and operations teams.
• Contribute to design reports, specifications and design review packs.
• Provide engineering support for procurement, manufacturing, site installation and commissioning.

About the Role

Fyfe isseeking an Electrical & ControlsEngineer in our Infrastructure Team based in Melbourne to provide concept design through to detailed design, procurement support, construction assistance and commissioning support.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and check electrical and control system deliverables including single line diagrams, network architecture drawings, I/O schedules, cable schedules, loop drawings, termination drawings, panel layouts, datasheets and bills of material.
• Support LV design activities including cable sizing, cable containment sizing, reticulation diagrams, generator sizing and electrical load inputs.
• Use engineering design tools such as Elecdes where required to produce consistent drawings and schedules.
• Prepare clear technical inputs for design reports, specifications and design review packs.
• Develop instrumentation and control design packages for water, wastewater, mining and industrial facilities.
• Coordinate controls requirements with process, mechanical and operations stakeholders.
• Support or prepare engineering studies such as arc flash, EMI and EMF assessments where assigned.
• Contribute to Safety in Design reviews, HAZOP, CHAZOP, constructability reviews and close-out of discipline actions.
• Identify design risks early and communicate clear mitigation actions.
• Deliver assigned work packages to agreed scope, schedule and budget.
• Coordinate discipline inputs with other engineering teams and resolve interface issues in a practical manner.
• Support project leads with progress reporting, resource forecasting, budget inputs and action tracking.
• Respond to technical queries from clients, suppliers, contractors and internal project teams.
• Prepare technical specifications and support technical evaluation of vendor submissions.
• Provide engineering support for procurement, manufacturing, site installation and commissioning activities.
• Review supplier documentation and resolve technical comments in line with project requirements.
• Participate in client meetings, design workshops and supplier discussions.
• Maintain clear, professional communication and follow through on commitments.
• Support positive relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal design teams.

What You Bring

• Proven experience in Medium Voltage/Low Voltageelectrical design
• Strong working knowledge of Australian Standards
• Demonstrated experience in I&C design
• Confidence contributing across all project phases, from concept and schematic design through to detailed delivery
• Experience in working on complex infrastructure projects is highly regarded
• Collaborative approach and clear communication style when working with engineers, clients and consultants
