Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the National Building Engineering Services team in Australia, delivering complex building services, mission critical and data centre projects across the region.

You will lead design delivery, independently produce engineering packages, review technical calculations and documentation, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The Role

Due to a growing pipeline of work, we're looking for Senior Electrical Engineers to join our National Building Engineering Services team, supporting the delivery of complex building services, mission critical and data centre projects across Australia and the broader region.

These are exciting opportunity for a technically strong engineers who enjoy leading design delivery, solving complex engineering challenges and contributing to high-performing multidisciplinary project teams.

Working alongside Associates, Principal Engineers and technical leaders, you'll take ownership of defined project scopes and deliver high-quality electrical engineering solutions across all stages of the project lifecycle. You'll work on some of the industry's most technically demanding projects while helping to mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence across the team.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services systems from concept through to construction.
  • Independently deliver engineering design packages with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare and review coordinated engineering calculations, reports, specifications and design documentation.
  • Develop electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, earthing, standby power and other electrical infrastructure systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Resolve technical design challenges and proactively manage design interfaces across project teams.
  • Support construction phase services including site inspections, responses to technical queries and review of contractor submissions.
  • Continue developing your technical capability, project delivery skills and industry knowledge.

Ideally, You’ll Have
  • Chartered Engineer (CPEng) status or working towards.
  • Approximately 6-10 years' experience in electrical building services consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complete design packages with minimal supervision.
  • Consulting experience within sectors such as commercial, industrial, health, defence, education, sports and aquatic, mixed-use developments or data centres.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
  • Experience undertaking load assessments, fault studies and coordination studies.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian electrical standards, codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in project coordination and discipline-level leadership.
  • Experience with ETAP, SKM, PowerCad, Revit and other relevant design platforms.
  • Data centre or mission critical project experience will be highly regarded.
