Job summary

Black & White Engineering is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to contribute to high-profile data centre and building services projects in Melbourne. You will work within a multi-disciplinary design team providing sound technical design support and ensuring client specifications are met.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Chartered status with Engineers Australia, CIBSE, IET, or similar preferred.
• Proven experience in electrical building services design within a consulting engineering environment.
• Strong experience delivering mission critical and/or data centre projects.
• Solid understanding of LV/HV power distribution, UPS systems, generators, and critical electrical infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC, and relevant electrical codes.

Responsibilities

• Compile specifications, drawings and relevant contract documents as per client/project requirements.
• Maintain the required technical quality of work, ensuring that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.
• Contribute as part of a multi-disciplinary design team to ensure successful preparation and delivery on project objectives, including providing technical support.
• Provide information to build budgets for clients based on their specifications.
• Liaise with the Client and external design teams as necessary for the successful delivery of projects.
• Contribute to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and potential areas for growth and also maintaining and developing existing client relationships.
• Provide electrical or mechanical engineering services design for buildings and infrastructure.
• Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process, maintain planning and cost control on all scopes.
• Other reasonable duties as appropriate.

Reporting to the Associate Director, this role is part of a multi-disciplined team responsible for providing sound technical design support on mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines, to ensure project requirements and clients’ specifications are fully met.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Chartered status or membership with Engineers Australia, CIBSE, IET, or similar professional body preferred.
• Proven experience in electrical building services design within a consulting engineering environment.
• Strong experience delivering mission critical and/or data centre projects.
• Solid understanding of LV/HV power distribution, UPS systems, generators, and critical electrical infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC, and relevant electrical codes and regulations.
• Proficient in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Cymap, ETAP, or PowerCAD.
• Experience producing design calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
• Ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers.
