Job summary

EDL Energy in Brisbane seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design, risk assessments and project reviews for heavy industry assets. You will mentor staff, develop practical solutions, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

You will contribute to knowledge sharing and design reviews (HAZOP/LOPA) while driving continuous improvement and maintaining health/safety obligations across the team.

Qualifications

• Washington Accord recognised degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered Member of Engineers Australia (CPEng).
• RPEQ membership or working towards it.
• 10 years' experience in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with heavy industry (mining, power generation, oil & gas) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement electrical engineering solutions with focus on technical accuracy and quality.
• Provide technical guidance and innovation for timely resolution of queries and issues.
• Mentor less experienced team members to ensure high technical capability.
• Support Operations with safe and timely resolution of issues.
• Implement electrical engineering standards and technical documentation.
• Certify schemes as a registered professional engineer as required.
• Collaborate with team to achieve department objectives.
• Enhance electrical capability by improving processes and staying industry up-to-date.
• Adhere to health and safety obligations in all activities.
• Assist with company policies as directed by management.
• Senior Engineers may perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Provide technical guidance and innovation for the timely resolution of queries and issues.
• Design, develop, and implement engineering solutions, ensuring technical accuracy and quality
• Identify the learning and development needs for yourself and mentor less experienced team members to ensure a high level of technical capability.
• Support EDL Operations with the safe and timely resolution of issues
• Effective implementation of Electrical engineering standards and technical documentation
• Certify schemes as a registered professional engineer as required
• Support team members and work collaboratively to contribute to achieving the team’s objectives
• Enhance EDL’s Electrical capability through improving existing processes, and staying updated with industry trends
• Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations
• Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company’s employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors
• In addition to the duties set out above, the Senior Engineers may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company

Qualifications and Experience

• Washington Accord recognised degree in Electrical Engineering
• Chartered Member of Engineers Australia (CPEng)
• Member of the Board Professional Engineers Queensland (RPEQ) or working towards this
• In depth knowledge and experience in the Electrical Engineering field with 10 years’ experience
• Understanding of safety principles in design with a core emphasis on effective risk management
• Experience with heavy industry (e.g., mining, power generation, oil & gas) would be an advantage
• Experience facilitating design and project reviews, including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA and safety reviews desirable
