Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) is an independent statutory body within the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. The EL1 Data Analyst will lead regional data analysis, supervise staff, and engage with stakeholders to strengthen the jobs and skills system across regional Australia.

The role supports the Workforce Futures branch with policy analysis, dashboards and tools to inform government decisions and improve regional outcomes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in an analytical discipline such as economics, mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related field - Essential.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design, delivery and quality assurance of qualitative and quantitative data analysis, ensuring methods are robust, well documented and generate appropriate insights for reporting.
• Overseeing the preparation of analytical outputs, data tables and supporting material, to create compelling narratives, ensuring results are accurate, reproducible and publication ready.
• Providing technical advice and direction to support reporting, dissemination and policy use, working collaboratively with stakeholders and technical specialists to resolve complex analytical issues.
• Effectively communicating analytical outputs and findings through presentations and forums, as well as liaising with stakeholders as product users and data custodians,
• Providing leadership in a collaborative team environment, including developing, coaching and supervising staff.

Education

Analytical discipline degree (e.g., economics, mathematics, statistics, data science)
