Job summary

The University of Queensland Press (UQP) seeks a Senior Editor to independently manage editorial and production across fiction, non-fiction and children’s titles. You’ll report to the Managing Editor and collaborate with authors and publishing partners to ensure high editorial standards and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in editing/publishing or related field.
• 3+ years in trade publishing or editorial role.
• Experience evaluating and editing content, structure and format.
• Strong project management from contact to print.
• Advanced verbal and written communication with authors and suppliers.
• Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and within budget.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Experience project-managing multiple competing tasks.
• Proficient with MS Office, Acrobat and InDesign.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage the editorial and production process for multiple book titles from manuscript to print.
• Undertake complex structural editing, copy editing and manuscript assessment.
• Build strong relationships with authors, freelancers, designers and proofreaders.
• Write cover copy and marketing content; collaborate with sales/marketing on positioning.
