Job summary

Austin Health in Melbourne's north-eastern suburbs is seeking a Project Director to lead the Emergency Department Expansion and redevelopment, ensuring delivery on time and within budget while maintaining patient care.

Reporting to the Chief Information & Services Officer, you will oversee planning, construction, commissioning and clinical readiness in a live hospital environment, with governance and procurement responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior leadership experience directing large-scale, complex construction programs.
• Proven track record in health infrastructure or major public hospitals.
• Experience leading brown-field redevelopments in live healthcare settings.
• Deep understanding of healthcare procurement, clinical workflow design and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the successful delivery of a major health infrastructure project from construction through to operational launch.
• Direct project governance, financial performance and capital expenditure, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and organisational priorities.
• Lead high-value procurement, contract and vendor management activities to support the delivery of critical project outcomes.
• Ensure safe, compliant and uninterrupted healthcare operations throughout all stages of construction and commissioning.
• Oversee clinical commissioning, digital health integration and operational readiness to support a successful transition to service delivery.
• Act as the key liaison between Austin Health executives, government agencies, project partners and clinical stakeholders.
