Job summary

Pacific Basin Shipping is seeking an experienced professional to take ownership of commercial and operational management for a fleet of dry bulk vessels. You will manage voyages from fixture through completion, ensuring safe, efficient and profitable outcomes through planning, execution and optimisation.

Key responsibilities include coordinating with charterers, shippers, and port authorities, managing cargo and bunker activities, and mitigating risks to protect voyage contribution.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years' relevant experience in dry bulk voyage and time charter operations.
• Independent management of voyages from fixture to completion.
• Strong knowledge of dry bulk operations across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Responsibilities

• Apply sound commercial and operational judgement to optimise vessel performance, speed, bunker consumption and voyage efficiency.
• Coordinate with charterers, shippers, brokers, agents, port authorities and vessel Masters for voyage execution.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers and partners, ensuring Charter Party requirements and high service standards.
• Manage cargo planning, bunker management, voyage performance and related claims.
• Anticipate operational and commercial risks, escalate issues, and resolve to minimize disruption and cost.
• Monitor voyage performance and take corrective actions to improve outcomes.
• Develop relationships with Port Captains and internal stakeholders to support safe operations.
• Represent the company with customers, brokers and market participants to create operational value.
• Provide guidance and coaching to Operators to strengthen capability across the Operations team.
• Contribute to continuous improvement using voyage data to identify recurring issues.
