Job summary

SMEC is a global engineering consultancy delivering complex infrastructure projects across transport, water, energy and urban development. We are seeking a Senior Engineer – Drainage & Flooding to join our Queensland team, delivering drainage and flooding design for major road and rail programs.

You will lead design packages, provide specialist input, and work with multidisciplinary teams across Queensland and nationally, bringing 7–15 years of experience and a strong technical background in

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
7–15 years’ drainage and flooding design experience.
Advanced capability with 12d, including hydrology, hydraulic modelling, and drainage design workflows.
Strong understanding of Australian Standards, Austroads guidelines, and TMR requirements.
Demonstrated experience delivering projects to client scope, budget, and timeframes.
Ability to prepare high‑quality technical reports with minimal review.
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams across major transport projects.
Willingness to undertake occasional travel as project needs arise.

Responsibilities

Provide specialist technical input and lead drainage design packages.
Support multidisciplinary project teams across major transport programs in Queensland and nationally.
Ensure designs meet client scope, budget and timeframes and comply with standards.
Lead/participate in design reviews and approvals.
Collaborate with clients and partners to deliver robust drainage solutions.
