Job summary

Stantec’s Water team in Australia is seeking a Water Resources Engineer – Drainage to join our Sydney team, delivering drainage and stormwater design for transport, urban development and infrastructure projects. Flexible working arrangements support a healthy work-life balance.

The role focuses on technical delivery of drainage design with opportunities to contribute to flood resilience and water-sensitive urban design. Senior level consideration may apply based on experience.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Environmental Engineering coupled with 3-10 years demonstrated experience in water resources engineering, with a strong focus on drainage design.
• Working knowledge of current guidelines, including experience working with Australian Rainfall and Runoff.
• Demonstrated experience using TUFLOW and hydrologic modelling software.
• Demonstrated experience with GIS packages (QGIS, MapInfo, ArcGIS).
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and deliver project outcomes.
• Ability to work in a team and provide guidance to junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Undertake drainage design for road, transport, urban development and infrastructure projects.
• Develop drainage solutions with pits, pipes, culverts, swales, channels and detention basins.
• Prepare and review drainage models using 12d and DRAINS.
• Undertake MUSIC modelling and design stormwater-quality measures.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for pipes, culverts and inlets.
• Coordinate drainage design with road geometry and utilities.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings and submissions.
• Review outputs and manage technical risks.
