Job summary

Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Sydney is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join ABC Digital Product and help lead the infrastructure, automation and reliability behind ABC iView services across web and mobile.

You will provide specialist DevOps expertise across cloud provisioning, testing, deployment and production reliability, shaping the longer-term infrastructure roadmap while mentoring engineering colleagues.

This is fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join ABC Digital Product and help lead the infrastructure, automation and reliability behind ABC iView services across web and mobile.

You'll provide specialist DevOps expertise across cloud infrastructure provisioning, testing, deployment and production reliability while helping define the longer-term infrastructure and automation roadmap.

This is a hands‑on senior engineering role combining AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, reliability engineering, automation and technical leadership.

The Job

• Lead the development and automation of infrastructure supporting ABC iView and Digital Product services.
• Provision, manage and improve cloud infrastructure supporting web and mobile platforms.
• Define and contribute to the long-term infrastructure and automation roadmap.
• Provide technical leadership in designing and provisioning efficient, repeatable CI/CD pipelines that deliver a 'constant ready state'.
• Establish, document and promote engineering standards including infrastructure as code.
• Plan and coordinate major infrastructure and automation initiatives while clearly communicating dependencies, progress and constraints.
• Identify, triage and resolve complex production and infrastructure issues, minimising time to resolution.
• Drive improvements across platform reliability, security and cloud cost optimisation.
• Design and develop reusable infrastructure, tooling and automation that can support multiple Digital Product teams.
• Maintain detailed technical standards and documentation and strong knowledge of how digital systems and services are used by the business.
• Improve platform reliability through fault monitoring, reporting, resilience and service availability, partnering with Platform Operations.
• Provide technical guidance, support and mentoring to engineering colleagues

You'll have:

• Significant experience leading technical initiatives focused on building and deploying cloud-based infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience establishing secure and reliable build and deployment practices.
• Strong experience developing efficient and repeatable CI/CD pipelines, supported by clear documentation and standards.
• Substantial hands‑on experience developing and managing AWS-based infrastructure.
• Strong experience working with Linux-based environments.
• Experience with common cloud operations tooling and content delivery networks (CDNs).
• Strong understanding of infrastructure automation, reliability, security and operational best practice.
• Demonstrated technical leadership within development or engineering teams.
• Experience building strategic working relationships across technical and business groups.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational capability with experience planning multi-person delivery, managing dependencies and clearly communicating progress and blockers.
