Job summary

Western Sydney University Parramatta campus is seeking a Senior Development Lawyer to own a complex portfolio of property, construction, environmental and planning matters. Working within the Office of General Counsel, you will establish legal strategies, manage institutional risk and deliver commercially sound outcomes aligned with University objectives.

You will advise senior stakeholders, lead the structuring, drafting, negotiation and settlement of complex contracts and project

Qualifications

• A law degree and NSW practising certificate or eligibility.
• At least seven years’ post-admission experience in property, construction, environmental and planning law.
• Experience in property transactions: acquisitions, disposals, leasing, licenses and easements.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of a complex portfolio of property, construction, environmental and planning matters.
• Establish legal strategies, manage institutional risk and deliver commercially sound outcomes.
• Provide authoritative advice to senior stakeholders and lead negotiations and settlements of complex documents.
• Guide property transactions and major project opportunities with appropriate governance structures.
• Advise on legislation, regulatory reviews, and university policies while coordinating external legal providers.
• Mentor junior lawyers and paralegals and share specialist knowledge.
