Job summary

Western Sydney University seeks an experienced lawyer to own a portfolio of property, construction, environmental and planning matters. Based in the Office of General Counsel, you will drive legal strategy, manage risk and deliver commercially sound outcomes aligned with University objectives.

You will guide negotiations, structuring and settlement of complex contracts and major projects, while mentoring junior lawyers and ensuring governance integrity across approvals and compliance.

Qualifications

• A law degree and registration, or eligibility to practise law in New South Wales.
• Unrestricted NSW practising certificate, or ability to obtain before commencement.
• 7+ years post-admission experience in property, construction, environmental and planning law.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice on complex property, construction, environmental and planning matters.
• Lead structuring, drafting, negotiation and settlement of complex contracts and project documents.
• Advise on legislation, regulatory reviews, and university policies; manage external legal providers.
