Job summary

Bright & Duggan Group is expanding its digital capability and assembling a product, design and engineering team in Sydney. We seek a Senior Designer / UX Engineer who works where design meets technology, solving complex problems and shaping modern software experiences.

You'll collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data and Business stakeholders to influence product direction, establish design standards and build scalable design systems across a growing organisation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience in Product Design, UX Design or UX Engineering.
• Strong experience designing complex digital products or enterprise applications.
• Advanced proficiency in Figma and modern design tooling.
• Excellent interaction design and information architecture skills.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation capability.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end product design from discovery through to delivery.

• Create user journeys, user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs.

We're looking for a Senior Designer / UX Engineer who thrives at the intersection of design, technology and human-centred problem solving.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional design role.

We are looking for someone who can think beyond screens and visual design. Someone who enjoys understanding how people work, simplifying complexity and designing experiences that make difficult tasks feel effortless.

Working alongside Product, Engineering, Data and Business stakeholders, you'll help shape the user experience of modern software platforms, operational workflows and digital products used across a large and growing organisation.

You'll have the opportunity to influence product direction, establish design standards, build scalable design systems and work closely with engineers to ensure great design is translated into great software.

What You'll Be Working On

Product & Experience Design

• Lead end-to-end product design from discovery through to delivery
• Design intuitive digital experiences for complex business workflows
• Create user journeys, user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs
• Transform complex requirements into elegant and user-friendly solution
• Balance customer needs, business goals and technical considerations

Research & User Insights

• Conduct user research, workshops and usability testing
• Identify pain points, opportunities and behavioural trends
• Validate design concepts through user feedback and practical testing
• Use evidence and insights to guide design decisions
• Champion user-centred design across product teams

Design Systems & Scalable Design

• Build and maintain scalable design systems and reusable patterns
• Establish consistency across products, experiences and interfaces
• Create standards that support efficient delivery and long-term maintainability
• Improve collaboration between design and engineering teams
• Help establish modern design practices across the organisation

Engineering Collaboration

• Work closely with software engineers to ensure high-quality implementation
• Create prototypes, interaction specifications and design documentation
• Participate in design reviews, solution workshops and product discussions
• Contribute to practical decisions that improve usability and adoption
• Bridge the gap between user experience and technical delivery

Modern Design & AI

• Leverage AI-assisted design tools to improve productivity and creativity
• Explore modern approaches to prototyping, experimentation and design delivery
• Continuously improve design workflows, tooling and ways of working
• Stay current with emerging UX, product design and digital experience trends

Essential

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years' experience in Product Design, UX Design or UX Engineering
• Strong experience designing complex digital products or enterprise applications
• Advanced proficiency in Figma and modern design tooling
• Excellent interaction design and information architecture skills
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing
• Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation capability
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary product and engineering teams

Highly Desirable

• Experience designing workflow-driven or operational software platforms
• Experience with design systems and component-based design approaches
• Experience designing dashboards, reporting or data-heavy experiences
• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies and development practices
• Experience using AI-assisted design or prototyping tools
• Experience in PropTech, Property, Financial Services or other complex operational environments
