Job summary

Sunshine Coast Council’s Design and Placemaking Services Branch seeks a Senior Design Engineer to lead complex civil and placemaking projects from concept to detailed design, shaping communities across the Sunshine Coast.

You will mentor design professionals, oversee multidisciplinary outcomes, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver innovative transport, stormwater and public realm infrastructure within Australia’s fastest-growing region.

Qualifications

• Qualified Civil Engineer with RPEQ status or eligibility.
• Proven leadership and people development skills.
• Strong problem-solving and innovative solution mindset.
• Excellent communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee design and documentation of complex civil, transport, stormwater and placemaking projects.
• Supervise Civil Designers, manage resources and project delivery outcomes.
• Oversee design procurement activities including investigations and briefs.
• Provide engineering calculations, specifications and contribute to standards.
