Job summary

Hartecs Group is seeking a Senior Civil Designer to join our Engineering Services team in Brisbane or on the Sunshine Coast, with regular attendance at the Sunshine Coast office and flexible working arrangements.

You will lead civil design projects across infrastructure and land development, owning design outcomes and collaborating with engineers, managers and clients to deliver quality documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in civil design or drafting across infrastructure, land development or related projects.
• Strong experience with 12D and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience with earthworks, grading, roadworks, drainage, stormwater and subdivision design.
• Strong understanding of civil design standards and construction documentation.
• Terrain modelling, volumetrics and design coordination.
• Ability to interpret engineering concepts and translate into practical designs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Collaborative approach and ability to communicate with engineers, clients and stakeholders.
• Initiative to identify improvements and implement ideas.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver civil design drawings and documentation for infrastructure and land development projects.
• Develop site layouts, grading plans, roadworks, drainage, earthworks and utility designs.
• Produce detailed drawings including sections, profiles and stormwater systems.
• Perform surface modelling, grading design and earthwork quantity calculations.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers and other disciplines to deliver integrated outcomes.
• Review and update drawings in response to changes, client feedback and project requirements.
• Contribute to design reviews, coordination meetings and project discussions.
• Ensure designs meet standards, project requirements and QA processes.
• Prepare drawing packages for approvals, tendering and construction.
• Support digital engineering initiatives and improvements in delivery.
• Share knowledge with developing designers to strengthen our design capability.

What you’ll be doing

• Prepare and deliver civil design drawings and documentation for infrastructure and land development projects

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced civil designer who is confident working independently, comfortable taking ownership and enjoys solving problems rather than simply following a brief.

You’ll ideally have:

• 5+ years’ experience in civil design or drafting across infrastructure, land development or related projects
• Strong experience with 12D and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Experience across earthworks, grading, roadworks, drainage, stormwater, utilities and subdivision design
• Strong understanding of civil design standards and construction documentation
• Experience with terrain modelling, volumetrics and design coordination
• The ability to interpret engineering concepts and turn them into practical, accurate designs
• Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to quality
• A collaborative approach and the confidence to communicate with engineers, clients and other stakeholders
• The initiative to identify better ways of doing things — and the confidence to put those ideas into action
